After 5 minutes of sitting in it, I found the controls were nearly infuriating. Guess the ISF is getting a workout this week.

But it’s like a TESLA with the large screen and such!

It looks awesome inside, though. What’s so bad?

I hate them. You shouldn’t ha ve to re-learn how to drive a car.

I’ll have to ask my nurse wife what she thinks of it... The interior is... interesting .

So much piano white, piano black, and the control screen makes the Lexus mouse look like switching from green and black screens to apple.

I got one as a rental one time. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out how to put it in Drive. I about had to go ask someone. If there was a serial killer or a fire after me I would’ve died...I was furious.

I am trying to imagine what that interior will look like in 10 years. I imagine more dirty brown than white.

I’ve driven them before so I knew whta to expect, but yeah I understand the frustration .

Yes. More so if you drive like your typical prius driver and subject everyone to it for longer than necessary.

HMU when you have more Toyotas and Lexi needing parked at your house then you have spaces. When my sister and buddy came over it was a big issue.

The white bothers me. The fact that the white seats and dash don’t match the center console and steering wheel trim bothers me. The white on the dash must make some incredible glare.
Get off my lawn, prius.

The leaf theme mat really makes it. That with the faux floating C-pillar means this isn’t just a car for people who hate cars and hate driving, but also hate design.

Yeah, I was going to give it a chance, but now it’s going to be difficulty . I just have to remember who this car is designed for(and the fact that it’s not me).

I like the Prius prime. It goes that extra mile into the future
![]() 09/10/2018 at 15:03 |

I agree. The Prime was taken far enough it became okay. This was just a failed redesign on the lower end.

The leaf on the floor mat bothers me. Any new manufactured product is not good for the environment. This might be “less bad” but it’s not saving the Earth.

If only they would have saved by not making that white plastic I would forgive them...

the two different whites really are infuriating.

i mean...I kinda do. we TECHNICAL:LY only have 3 spots outside. (1 car garage...stuffed with bikes)
we actually has to do some landscaping to add the 3rd parking spot.
so whenever we have guests the car sits out on the road or in a parking lot over night
right now, our neighboor doesnt have a car, so they are GRACIOUSLY letting us use their parking spaces (2) for our cars. but i know thats not going to last forever

Dammit Toyota, stop listening to the Behr “

. If you’re going to put two different off-whites in a car we are going to have a fucking problem.

Yeah on Friday we had the ISF in the garage, RC350 presser/RX350/LS400 and buddies GS350 F sport in the driveway, then had to acquire a guest spot for my sisters GS300. It was ToyMoCo madness.

And there’s at least 2 different blacks I’ve found. More forgivable as it’s pretty standard but the black plastic and piano black make me miss the RC350 F sport already.

I mean, I’d be delighted to be wrong. I’m going to be on the hunt for a used car sooner or later. I might as well get something fuel efficient.

There are many of hybrids that look like normal cars, are more quiet, more comfortable , get good gas milage , and have better interiors. Do one of those.

Right now I’m thinking first gen Chevy Volt.
![]() 09/10/2018 at 20:43 |

Not a bad option. They are quite quick too.
![]() 09/10/2018 at 21:45 |

I’m more so looking for something that is going to have low running costs. One of the few things that is making me shy away from the Volt is the weight - lugging around that much motor and that much battery means it’s going to make for a fair bit of work for the suspension. Given my current suspension issues, the thought of more suspension work really doesn’t excite me. Although maybe I’m just being paranoid now.
![]() 09/10/2018 at 21:51 |
|
Why can’t companies just make the classic layout, gauges in front of you and behind the wheel. Then don’t put everything on a touchscreen because it’s fucking annoying to have to go through menus to change the temperature. Just put the fucking knobs back!
![]() 09/10/2018 at 21:51 |

I would consider a CT200h, Volt, or Camry Hybrid. Toyotas are not necessarily known for their problems. Also, I’ve never hear of that issue with Volts.
![]() 09/10/2018 at 21:54 |

I really don’t know why this Prius is the way this Prius is... I’m not really sure how much I want to drive a free, brand new car this week now.
![]() 09/10/2018 at 22:04 |
|
I’m probably being paranoid.
I’d almost consider a used Leaf as well - prices are really getting down there, and it would cover all my local running about. But ideally I’d like something that can do at least 200 km in cold weather without running out of charge. That’s why I keep coming back to the Volt - it’s the best (but also potentially worst) of both worlds.
![]() 09/10/2018 at 22:07 |

I think CT200h might be a good answer.
![]() 09/10/2018 at 22:26 |

They didn't make a plug in version of it, like the Prius Prime, did they?
![]() 09/10/2018 at 22:31 |
|
Nope. But it’s a Lexus(and after switching back and forth from Toyotas and Lexi for weeks the Lexi are soo much nicer) and it gets 40-ish mpg. Very good option. If I ever got a traveling sales job, I would buy a used one in a heart beat to get me everywhere.
![]() 09/10/2018 at 22:38 |

I am really gunning for something with a plug for my next car - either plug in hybrid or fully electric. I grow tired of having to bend over every time gas prices go up. As it is we are paying $1.30/L (CAD).
![]() 09/10/2018 at 22:42 |
|
At 40mpg, it wouldn’t even be a problem. Also, a hybrid is less of a battery issue then a plug in or full electric would be. Range anxiety is a pain.
![]() 09/10/2018 at 22:48 |

I've currently been averaging 35 mpg, so the economics still don't quite make sense, but I am beginning to wonder how much longer my current car is going to last. I was hoping to get another 2-3 years out of it.

What car is it?
![]() 09/10/2018 at 23:10 |

2001 Honda Civic. 279,000 km on it now. It'll be due for another timing belt and water pump soon.

After 17 years the suspension issues should not a big deal in the first place. That’s normal wear and tear. A CT200h will be the best decision you ever made. One of my friends just bought one and absolutely loves it. Reliable, comfortable , and good gas mileage.

Fun fact: Lexus is going to this shifter design for their conventional cars too now (the LC 500 and LS 500 use it), although with M (enabling the paddles) instead of B.
It seems be somewhat of a standard for hybrids and EVs in Japan, too, now - the LEAF, Outlander PHEV, and the Jazz (Fit) Hybrid (which we don’t get) all use variants of the pattern.
